John Maynard Smith Exhibition

Between 28 January and 5 April 2020, the British Library exhibited a number of items from the John Maynard Smith Archive in honour of his 100th birthday. The exhibit could be visited in the Treasures Gallery.

John Maynard Smith (1920-2004), known as JMS, was a British evolutionary biologist. He is best known for his development of evolutionary game theory with its evolutionarily stable strategies (ESS), but also worked on the evolution of sex and senescence, among other things. For more information on him and his work, you can check some of my blogs for the British Library or head over to my ‘JMS in 15 images‘.
